Full methylome epigenetics for assessment of health and stress responses in marine mammals

We propose to generate the complete methylome for a model marine mammal, the elephant seal, under widely varying health states that reflect dramatic changes in body condition, energy status and immune status. This investigation will provide critical information for the use of epigenetic tools for health assessments in marine mammal species.

Cultural Resources Inventory for the Wildflower Ridge Preserve

The Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) will conduct a Cultural Resources Inventory for the Wildflower Ridge Preserve property in Grass Valley, Nevada County, California. Wildflower Ridge Preserve is an approximately 128-acre preserve located north of Grass Valley.

First 5 Sonoma County Mini-Grant

Mini-grant is intended to support early care and education providers in improving the quality of care for children ages. Funds will be used to update classroom supplies, educational toys and classroom furniture for SSU's Children’s School.

Cultural Resources Assessment for the Chanslor Ranch Property Transfer

The Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) will conduct a Cultural Resources Assessment for the Chanslor Ranch Property. Chanslor Ranch is a 378-acre project area located at 2660 Hwy 1, Bodega Bay, CA 94923. The property is in the Salmon Creek Watershed, is mostly undeveloped, and has been used primarily for grazing and ranching in the past.

With this award we aim to build on 5 years of kelp restoration science in the Hughes Lab at Sonoma State, along with our partners at Moss Landing Marine Labs and The Nature Conservancy.

Round Valley Indian Tribes Repatriation

This project entails the return of the remains of 22 ancestors and 8 associated funerary objects to the Round Valley Indian Tribes. The SSU NAGPRA Program has identified three specific areas in which assistance is needed which are collections care, disposition, and coalitions & partnerships.

Green Music Center's 2025-2026 Seasons Programs

This grant will support a portion of the artist fees for the presentation of performances and artist-led educational activities for students at Sonoma State University and local K-12 schools during the Green Music Center's 2024-25 season.

Focused on improving mathematics education in rural counties, the Rural Math Collaborative (RMC) is a consortium of 20 Northern California Counties, funded by a grant from the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) through a grant to the Lake County Office of Education (LCOE).
