HSGP FOR CALIFORNIA STATE AGENCIES FISCAL YEAR (FY) 2021
Sonoma State University endeavors to strengthen its emergency communication capabilities by partnering with the County of Sonoma, and specifically the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department T-Comm Bureau, to acquire and install upgraded critical radio equipment to respond to domestic terrorism (e.g. active shooter, arson, sideshow, etc.) incidents to save lives, protect property, apprehend suspects, and reduce the impacts of critical incidents that may occur on or around the University.
toEngaging Community Colleges Students through a Residential, Pre-transfer Summer Research Program
Engaging Community Colleges in Collaboration (EC3) aims to develop a collaboration between Sonoma State University (SSU), a primarily undergraduate four year institution, and two community colleges, Mendocino College (MC) and Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), to bring community college students from these partner schools to SSU to engage in experiential learning and experience a four year campus before they apply for transfer.
2022 Integrated Teacher Preparation Program Planning Grant
The award is for the Create an Integrated Teacher Preparation Program for the PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialist Instruction Program (ITPP-PK3). This grant will pay for faculty and staff time to prepare all documentation and materials needed for CSU and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing approval of the ITPP-PK3, faculty time for professional development with local teachers, and compensation of personnel from school districts, Santa Rosa Junior College, and the Sonoma County Office of Education for consultation on the design of the program.
toArchaeological Monitoring Services MEN-20 Chamberlain Creek, Mendocino County
The Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) will perform archaeological monitoring services for Mercer-Fraser Company for the Caltrans storm damage repair work on MEN-20 near PM 17.00. The work is taking place in the vicinity of Camp 20, a known tribal site and historic-era logging camp.
toCultural Resources Study of Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Open Space Preserve
The Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) will perform a cultural resources study for the proposed Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Open Space Preserve (MRRRP), Monte Rio, Sonoma County, California. MRRRP is approximately 515 acres along Dutch Bill Creek, but the proposed survey area is approximately 250 acres, which will include trails, areas along Dutch Bill Creek, and potential public access or use areas. The cultural resources study is being prepared to support an IS/MND and Master Plan.
toSonoma State Kelp Enhancement
Climate change has led to big changes in ocean conditions, specifically ocean warming events. These ocean "heat waves" have led to the decimation of our once iconic northern California kelp forests. This project will build on the last three years of kelp restoration research in the Hughes Lab, with the goal of restoring several acres of kelp forest at Albion Cove in Mendocino County.
toMath Lesson Facilitation 2023
Kathy Morris will provide Math Lesson Study facilitation for up to two groups during the time frame of Jan. 15, 2023 thru June 30, 2023. Lesson Study is a highly effective professional learning structure that is teacher driven and focused on students. The teams will work together to develop lessons and teaching practices that will support math learning in this remote learning environment and beyond.
toSmall, Rural, and Tribal Body-Worn Camera Program
The project funds the purchase of 12 body-worn cameras and related hardware, software, and warranties.
toGreen Music Center Family Day 2023 & 2024
This award is to support the Green Music Center's Family Day activities in spring 2023 and 2024. These activities, which are curated for TK-6th grade students and their families, will feature performances by Somos Amigos (Sonia De Los Santos and The Okee Dokee Brothers) in 2023 and Las Cafeteras in 2024. Each year's performance will be followed by a variety of interactive performing and visual arts activities for children, offered in English and Spanish, that will be led by local teaching artists and SSU graduate students in education.
toCampus Sexual Assault (CT) Program - Year 4
Sonoma State University will conduct the Campus Sexual Assault (CT) Program for a fourth year, that offers survivors of sexual violence comprehensive and coordinated services that are survivor/victim-centered, enhances campus safety, provides confidential services to survivors/victims of sexual assault, and includes comprehensive outreach activities that educates and informs all students, staff, and faculty of campus policies and resources regarding sexual assault/ misconduct and increases student awareness, with a focus on underrepresented populations.
