As part of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval process, SSU, in partnership with Murata Vios, will conduct a clinical research project to determine the accuracy of a novel temperature monitoring device. The device, known as "Moni-Patch" is applied to the side of a person's neck using double-stick adhesive. The device sends temperature monitoring data from the Moni-Patch to the wireless receiver for processing and display of termperature. To ensure accuracy, there will be a simultaneously placed wire into the person's external auditory canal after videoscopic measurement of external auditory canal measurements are obtained. The subjects will all have a minimum temperature of 38.0 C (100.4 F) for inclusion, and the patch will remain in place for 1 hour while the person is recumbent or supine. Subjects will be enrolled from SSU Student Health Center referrals and treatment will take place there.
