Sonoma State University Biodiversity Outreach program will utilize funding to enhance its community education efforts through the purchase of six new compound microscopes equipped with LCD viewing screens. The current dissecting microscopes are nearly two decades old and lack integrated cameras, limiting the ability to effectively share microscopic views with groups during outreach events. The new microscopes will allow students and community members to observe fish embryos from local hatcheries and explore the microhabitats that support fish and wildlife across Sonoma County. These tools will be used in public education events, classroom demonstrations, and collaborations with nature centers and community festivals to promote understanding of local aquatic ecosystems and conservation principles.
