This project aims to map eruptive basalts of Coyote Hills Shield Volcano in the Springerville Volcanic Field (SVF). The SVF is a well-mapped monogenetic volcanic field, with Coyote Hills being the only remaining unmapped area. This project will provide students with mapping and field experience while adding a very important last piece that will allow more work developing a petrogenetic model of the field, creating a complete picture of the volcanism; a picture that will be a rare glimpse of the entirety of a monogenetic volcanic field and will offer insights into hazard assessment and a template for studying similar fields.
