Many test devices require a common clock signal to communicate over distances. Often, the cables required to connect the test equipment to a common clock can be prohibitively expensive. We designed a wireless system that receives an external 10 MHz reference signal, which is then passed through a phase-locked loop to ensure clock stability. This signal can then be processed using a software-defined radio before operating as a clock signal for two devices at a distance.
