Abstract:
In this project, I talk about how much the development of computers from the 1980s to now has changed how we interact with the world around us, as well as how we interact with each other. Also incorporating Jean Baudriallard’s ideas of the hyperreal, I talk about why this project is relevant, what the smaller details of the sculpture are supposed to symbolize, and what I hope the people watching will get out of it. Through the medium of a clay sculpture, I tried to capture just how much the presence of computers from the '80s has changed things through some subtle and not-so-subtle symbolism.
