Abstract:
The 1970’s were a period of unrivaled exuberance and self introspection. Pop art and music were perfect outlets for many free-thinking activists to present their thoughts about relevant social, political, and existential issues to the world. Musical and visual artists worked together in harmony and created artistic projects that put a fitting aesthetic to previously undescribed auditory brilliance.
This digital collage is meant to present some of the most iconic album covers and other musically inspired art from the 1970’s. Most of these images are widely recognizable, for their scope in power surpasses that of the sound of the music they represent. These works of art instead serve as striking visual interpretations of the artist’s desired message and aesthetic.
