Abstract:
My project is a slideshow presentation focused on the uprising of African Americans and their culture throughout the past decades. I tried to highlight as many of the most influential people I could think of from the 1960s and onwards. I first discuss the Black Panther Party and everything that they did for their communities to help combat police brutality and systemic oppression. I then discuss how multiple famous musicians and authors helped to empower people to freely express themselves for who they are. People like Michael Jackson, Prince, and James Baldwin all played key roles in the normalization of being different. I then discuss how even in recent years several different artists have continued to push for justice and equality by expressing the same ideas as generations prior, just by different methods and that the fight still continues on.
