Abstract:
In the nineteenth century, Totem Poles were created by the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast of North America. Totem Poles were art and culture to the Indigenous people. The hand-carved monument portrayed family legends and lineage, spirituality such as Totemism, and culturally important animals, plants, people, or events. In this poster, there are responses to the questions: what Totem poles are, why were they made, where could you find them, and what do the symbols mean.
