Abstract:
The Philosophy of Advancements of Technology and Advertisement in the 80s is a blog type that discusses primary sources from the 80s and analyzes them with a philosophical lens. One of the key philosophers we focused our main ideas on was Jean Beaudrillard and his theories and teachings. We also connected some of our findings to the book we read in our seminar section, Neuromancer and also focused on the author, William Gibson who was heavily influenced by Jean Beaudrillard as well. The primary ads that we pulled from the 80s were key ads in the generation that had a meaning behind them. The ads that we show on our blog consist of some sort of distraction from what was occurring in the time it was released. We analyze and determine what the philosophical meaning could be behind the advertisements that were released during the 1980s. Here is our link to our website that we created
