Abstract:
The purpose of the Supersaturation of Sodium Acetate demo is to apply free energy and thermodynamics, thermochemistry, and solubility rules for students to understand the connection these concepts have within the supersaturation of sodium acetate. It also for professors to use within the Chemistry department to further explain thermochemistry and other concepts that connect or lie within those lines. Forming a solution into a solid crystal and explaining how the system of the reaction proceeds is another way of obtaining others attention on the rules of thermodynamics and experiencing the excitement of how crystals can be formed.
