Abstract:
Capture the Flag (CTF) contests are a type of cybersecurity competition that has been praised for its educational value. Our goal for this project is to bring those values to Sonoma State and to investigate CTFs as pedagogical tools in follow-on research. We report on the feasibility of hosting a CTF at SSU, as first steps toward that goal — this includes challenges related to hosting the CTF server, enabling HTTPS, rapid challenge deployment and integration with SSU CAS.
