Abstract:
This research will seek to determine if using a settler colonialist lens to conduct a comparative study of inaugural addresses helps give us a framework for analyzing presidential rhetoric. This research project will use a settler colonialist lens to analyzes the rhetoric of the presidential inaugural speeches of Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, and James Polk.
