Digital Collage

In the 1960s the Chicano Movement emerged with three goals in mind: to restore the land, rights for farmworkers, and education reform. Through the Hispanic community activism, the Chicano Movement made great strides in the 1970s. While Hispanics gained political power in the 1970s, they started to face new problems.

This digital collage is established for the Hispanic community who has shown Resistance throughout the years. When coming to a new country, many change their ways to fit into society's expectations. Instead of assimilating, many people bring their cultures to the community and keep it alive through festivals. The collage displays Baile Folklórico(Translation: Folkloric dance), a traditional Mexican dance, upfront. While in the background, you can see many iconic Hispanics that brought up the community. People from activists like Cesar Chavez to Artists like Frida Kahlo. In a way it tells the world, 'I am America, but I am Hispanic-American.'
