Abstract:
California Coastal Act in 1976 was put in place to ensure beach access for all of the public. The law created in the 1970’s around the public beach laws is extremely important to understand as opinions were across the board for those in the 70’s. The agricultural and environmental impact on the public being allowed access to all beaches was larger than expected. To connect the musical aspect of the 70's to the opinions and issues with the beach laws, I wrote a song. In the song, I address the El Segundo Blue, a native beach bird in Southern California. The bird has become an endangered animal. I included this in my song because I feel it was the best example to use to get my point across. The song is supposed to show the different opinions on the law. It is important to remember the environmental and social issues that are involved with the public having full access to all of the beaches. I added a link to a Youtube video at the top of the song lyrics page (Page 2) of my submission. This video could be used as a background song that fits the tone of the writing. Although this is optional, I encourage you to read through the song once, and then listen to the Youtube video play in the back as you read it for a second time. At the end of this description, I will re-link and address the title for that video, as well as the links for the images I used in my submission. I hope that my song will allow the readers to connect the ideas of this topic and it's effects in the 70's, with the song of music/poem tone that we talks about in our MUS273 class.
