Abstract:
Our research focused on explaining if eating a whole foods plant-based diet could lower the chances of developing hypertension and cardiac diseases better than the recommended DASH diet. We also conducted our research with the aim to clarify the components of a “whole foods plant-based diet” versus that of a DASH diet. We concluded that plant based diets that exclude all animal proteins and processed foods are best at lowering the risks associated with hypertension and cardiac diseases. Studies also showed that diets rich in plant based foods were effective in treating and preventing cardiac disease processes, improving the trajectory of these diseases and eliminating the need for hypertensive medications. The DASH diet which consists of animal proteins, fatty foods, and processed, sugary foods needs further improvement in order to be most effective at treating and preventing cardiac diseases and hypertension.
