Abstract:
Antennas are present in many everyday devices such as cell phones. A cell phone in particular has many different antennas for applications such as Wifi, LTE, etc. With the trend of cell phones becoming more compact, designers are faced with size constraints for their antenna designs which affect their performance. An antenna is limited in its performance across the bandwidth due to a fundamental law stating that an antennas length is inversely proportional to the frequency it is transmitting. A negative impedance converter bypasses the typical limitations of a small antenna by providing an improved performance across the bandwidth and eliminating the need to have multiple antennas for each application, which gives designers more room to add additional features to their device designs.
