Abstract:
Native Americans had themselves a set diet and way of life pre-colonial contact in the Americas. Their diet consisted of home grown crops that they had harvested for as long as their tribes had existed. To the Native Americans, their diet was an extremely important aspect to their overall health. After colonization, the health of many Native Americans drastically declined as their diets shifted. Serious health problems would arise of the diet change within their communities as government help was of little to no value to the Natives as they were left empty handed in many cases and with very poor nutrition in others.
