Abstract:
In this project one will view and gain understanding of motherhood for African American mothers during the 1920’s. During this time it was common for mothers and many others within the African American community to sing “blues” songs that expressed and released the pain, suffering, and sense of isolation they were experiencing. With this, the audience will view two pictures of children and mothers during the 1920’s while also reading the lyrics of a custom song created by the author of this project to reflect the formatting of a Blues song while also expressing the turmoil many African Americans faced.
