Abstract:
This project was inspired by the phrase "Tell the story of your people," and my people are the LGBTQ+ community. Specifically, this artwork is supposed to be a concert poster for the first Pride March after the Stonewall Riots in Christopher Street, New York. This poster is actually heavily inspired and a parody of Fleetwood Mac's concert poster for their performance in the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. At the center of the poster, sitting on her throne is Marsha P. Johnson, an American drag queen and gay liberation activist that was part of the vanguard during the Stonewall riots. Johnson was an inspiration and an icon, comparable to a best-selling rockband like Fleetwood Mac. The entire LGBTQ+ community is where we are today because of her and many activists like her.
