Abstract:
This is an academic research paper on the mafia. The paper describes how the mafia rose to power during the 1920s and all the events that came with it, the paper has a specific emphasis on the prohibition and the long lasting effects on the mafia’s power. I wanted to figure out the mafia’s strength and their power that they gained through prohibition and how they used that power to incite fear throughout the 1920s and continuing decades. The mafia gained large amounts of power through the implementation of the prohibition causing the sale of alcohol to be illegal making the illegal manufacture of it to be heavily lucrative.
