Abstract:
Iron(III)-salen complexes were synthesized to be used to model P450 enzymes. The complexes were to be studied for their kinetic role in the oxidation of organic sulfides. N,N'-Bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine, or salen, iron(III)-salen, and oxo(iron)salen were synthesized and characterized to be used in kinetic experiments. We were not able to perform these kinetic experiments, but the expected results from our experimentation have been proposed.
