Abstract:
My presentation is about intergenerational trauma experienced by indigenous peoples. I chose to do this topic because I am Native American and I believe that it’s very important that people understand what indigenous peoples have been through in the past and how it’s still affecting those populations. Intergenerational trauma can have a variety of psychological symptoms as well as a higher vulnerability to stress. Bringing awareness to these issues and attempting to break the cycle of trauma is a way to help these affected communities to begin to heal. I think this is a very important issue that many people aren’t aware of.
