Abstract:
Stevie Nicks was highly influential when it comes to music in the 70’s and even today. Mostly everyone who listens to music has heard of or knows who she is. Whether people know her from Fleetwood Mac or her solo career, most people would agree that her unique voice and lyrics have influenced the soft rock genre of music. When our group heard that the theme of SYRCE was going to be the 70’s, we thought our project could revolve around Stevie Nicks and her music. We painted three vinyls with images that represent her lyrics and who she is as a person and as an artist. On the first vinyl we have roses and the lyrics to Fleetwood Mac’s hit song “Little Lies”, as well as a dove to represent the song “Edge of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks. On the second vinyl, we have butterflies and lyrics to “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac. Lastly, on the third vinyl, we have the moon phases, representing Stevie Nicks’s love for astrology and is a metaphor for the way that her career constantly is changing like the phases of the moon. Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, making them one of the world’s best-selling bands. Stevie Nicks in her solo career sold more than 20 million records worldwide and was named one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time by Rolling Stone. We chose to do our project on Stevie Nicks because she is a mutual interest and role model to many people, including ourselves.
