Abstract:
In this project I worked hard to incorporate themes from this semester including female empowerment and coming together for one common cause. The main focus of this piece is the impact nurses had on AIDS patients in the 1980's. I included the AIDS quilt and the LGBT flag to symbolize and honor those who passed from this horrible disease in a time where compassion was scarce. To highlight the femimist movement and the hard work of female nurses at this time I made the main focal point a female nurse as well as a symbol for Hygeia, the goddess of health and medicine.
