Film collage
Before and during the 1970s, women were neglected of their rights and faced sexism, fighting for free access to abortions, and trying to overcome oppression. Entering into the 1970s women began to fight for themselves and started the Women's Rights Movement which pushed for equality in the workplace, family life, and politics. Feminism was becoming an enforced movement and women could start expressing themselves freely in speech, art, style, etc.
This collage of film photos was inspired by Hannah Wilkes collage “Gestures.” Instead of facial expressions like Hannah Wilkes, it is more of the woman's body. The photos express feminism and how it is still important today. The photos are different shots of the women's body and are taken in the hills of nature because it symbolizes women's freedom and expression. It symbolizes that no matter where a woman is, they should be able to be free, feel comfortable how they are and to not be afraid of being judged or oppressed.
