Abstract:
This symposium project is an online magazine of the fashion in the Handmaid’s Tale book by Margaret Atwood. This magazine deeply analyzes the outfits of the characters in the book while also looking at common themes in the novel that relate to the fashion of the characters. Since the author wrote this book in the 1980’s after living through the Cold War, we examined the similarities between the fashion during the Cold War as well the differences between the fashion in the 1980’s with the fashion in the book. This magazine gives visuals of the various fashion types that are presented while also providing through information on the subjects.
