Abstract:
The United Farm Workers is a movement that was founded to advocate for the rights of those working in agriculture. They aspired to take care of the workers who feed America, making sure their rights were protected and the needs of their working conditions were met. This impactful group had great successes along the way. They were able to help laborers unionize, earn fair wages, take breaks more frequently, among other amazing things. To this day they continue to advocate for “la causa”, adapting to new and modern issues. This presentation focuses on the importance of unity and how that contributes to the resiliency of minorities. We will focus on the alliance between the United Farm Workers and the Black Panther Party and what they were able to achieve together. This project is meant to bring light to how important it is to fight for causes that we feel strongly about, even if they do not directly affect us. What are you passionate about? What cause are you willing to fight for?
