Abstract:
My project “Divided”, is a visual representation of reality being altered through a medium of technology- a computer screen. The split face is supposed to be an interpretation of myself in both a digital and physical world, within the 1980’s. The focus of my piece was to demonstrate how one’s reality can be a subject of change, in which one side is not any more or any less real than the other. The makeup on the right side of the face is 80’s themed, due to the incorporation of a bold pink lip and blue eye lid shade. On the left side of the face, a bright green color was used to represent a pixelated version of the opposite side of my head. The concept of reality is utterly ambiguous, however, I made this piece to define my perception of it in simpler terms.
