Abstract:
In 1967, the San Joaquin Kit Fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica) was federeally listed as endangered due to its rapidly declining population. Programs like the Endangered Species Recovery Program have identified key factors that have led to the decline. Factors such as habitat loss and fragementation due to agricultural, industrial and urban use have attributed to huge losses, but there are also biotic factors like sarcoptic mange which run the risk of an epidemic. In my meta-analysis, I chose a variety of papers that outlined different conservation efforts, and determined the effects by looking at population estimates from prior conservation efforts to after.
