Abstract:
Our project is a painting on the deck of a skateboard with inspirations from 1970s retro minimalism art. The intention behind Concrete Wave is to convey the culture and roots of modern-day skateboarding from the 1970s. The sunset over the beach is meant to show the transition of California surfers to the new era skating scene. The piece projects a simplistic tone to appeal to the nostalgia of the decade. The inspiration comes from artist Robert Mangold and his minimalistic paintings which incorporate colorful stripes and simple circles.
