Abstract:
Senate Bill 9 was passed on September 16th 2021 in California. This law was passed in order to alleviate the current housing crisis by making single-family zoning areas able to build duplexes or additional houses on their lots. Different types of housing and configurations are viable when lot splitting, with a max of four units. The bill also streamlines construction but it has limitations when being implemented across California’s cities. In this presentation we examine nine cities' different interpretations of this bill.
