Abstract:
For our final research essay, we decided to study Cultural, Fashion, and Art changes in the 1980s. During this time there was a rapid increase in the Mexican population here in the United States. After living in Mexico their whole lives they came to realize that it will be difficult to adapt to their new lifestyle. The Chicano community felt as if they didn’t fit in either here in the U.S or back home. To adjust to their new lives they created and changed their ways of thinking, aspects of their culture, and created what is now known as Chicano Culture. We decided to do our research on this topic because it is something that connects us to our roots and is very passionate about. After reviewing our presentation you will learn how life was for Chicanos during this time, how they adapted to changes, their changes in fashion, and their ways of using art to express themselves.
