Abstract:
This presentation will talk about the representation and inclusion of black Americans in the 1980s media like music, shows, and sports. In the 1980s entrepreneur, Robert Johnson started a cable channel called B.E.T. Which stands for Black Entertainment Television, which was aimed at black audiences because of the lack of representation at that time. In the 1980s it wasn't easy for black artists to break through racial barriers in the industries but many proved that they could. From music, sports, actors, and shows we saw black artists break down the barrier and most important getting recognition for their hard work.
