Abstract:
This piece shows aspects of Native American culture being the White Buffalo and the Eagle. The other symbols are a fist colored in the A.I.M. colors (American Indian Movement) holding a paintbrush over a peace sign all while having the shackle around the wrist broken by the Eagle. The reason for these symbols and for the name is to show that Native Americans had an impact on the world, specifically how the 1970s modeled their world views; what they were fighting for is what the Native Americans were already practicing.
Art is one of the best ways to express any view or any struggle in the world. I chose to use the A.I.M. colors and the Alcatraz paintings to show that art is boundless and anyone can create meaning.
