Abstract:
Our poster will show our work on a service learning project so the chemistry department will be able to do more demos in the future. We have developed a demo so awesome and very affordable that will blow students minds! Our demo is about alkaline metals in water. When you add these metals a safe explosion can take place. Alkali metals are lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), cesium (Cs), and francium (Fr). These metals are highly reactive which tarnishes when exposed to air. These metals mixed with water create a crazy combustion reaction causing it to explode. This will show students the reaction that occur when alkaline gets placed in water.
