Abstract:
“The 1980s Time Capsule” is a collection of art pieces that hold significance to the time period. This project aims to give light to some of the many advancements that have shaped the world even to this day through physical art. Taking on inspiration from artists of the era alongside personal expression, this time capsule helps to see some of the most prominent features that have made a comeback in future decades. 1980s music has been influential to the music industry and this project sheds light to the top 10 best selling music artists throughout the decade. By showing who had the most influence on the decade, we can see how much their music has shaped what we still listen to in 2020. “The American YAWP” is a collection of writings by hundreds of credible historians and professors that have come together and made an online textbook, dating the history of the United States. This work focuses on specific examples of media, political news, and relative history to show the smaller details that arise in the years. Since the 1990s, my father has designed structures for famous musicians for both functional and decorative purposes. This project includes both of these aspects in forming a timeline of the 1980s through art and expression.
