Abstract:
During the 1970s many artists struggled with substance abuse. The impact of these drugs can be seen through the music of some of these artists. The main theme of emotions that are often portrait is of pain sorrow and longing. However, the melody tends to be more positive and fun. In contrast, the lyrics hold more weigh in understanding the mindset that these artists were in.
