Abstract:
The Harlem Renaissance was a movement of growth for the African American community. The movement began approximately in the 1920s and produced an abundance of music, art, politics, and fashion. A lot of this movement is centered around New York city, in a part of town called Harlem, hence the name. In the past, researchers have analyzed all aspects of this time period to have a greater understanding of the history behind this movement. Artists produced amazing pieces of art during this time, art that still is significant and holds meaning to many in our country. After the Great Migration, African Americans were now able to express their talents and opinions which created an abundance of intellectual works for our country. In this poster I have three pieces of artwork from this time that show the cultural and intellectual ideas of the time period.
