2026 Media Arts Grant
Department: Communication Studies
College or Division: College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts
Sponsor: KHR McNeely Family Foundation
Calendar Start & End Date: -
Funding Amount: $220,000
The primary purpose of this funding is two-fold: First, to further support the Cinematic Arts & Technology BA degree program. Specific areas include technology improvements to the Media Innovation Lab (including upgrading production studio capabilities for live streaming and expanding our studio and field production equipment), and continuing our film industry guest speaker series. The goal of our Cinematic Arts program is to give our students the potential to learn a wide variety of skill sets they can take into the job market. Secondly, we continue to expand our scholarship program, which funds recipients up to $20,000 a year for four years. This year we have added one new student in Cinematic Arts and Technology, bringing our total number of scholarship recipients to seven (our first two scholarship students are slated to graduate in May).
In addition, we have funding once again this year to support community outreach projects for the University Art Gallery as well as expanding digital media equipment for student use in the Art Studio program.
