The STEP Center and Computer Science Department will collaborate as the project team to develop and refine a new Computer Science Supplementary Authorization program at Sonoma State University (SSU). In partnership with local districts and county offices of education, the team will recruit teachers, identify their needs and interests, and support high school educators pursuing computer science authorization. The project will also design and facilitate a Professional Learning Community (PLC) for both teachers working toward the authorization and those currently teaching computer science.
In addition, the team will recruit and support teacher mentors and mentees for a mentorship program. They will work closely with the CS4NorthCal team, research board, and external evaluator to support data collection and analysis of project participants. Finally, the team will contribute to the development of project materials and dissemination efforts.
