The Summer Healthcare Academy introduces students to a broad range of in-demand health professions by building on SSU’s new dual-enrollment course KIN150: Introduction to Health Professions, ensuring academic rigor and alignment with higher-education pathways, and that address California’s workforce priorities in primary care, behavioral health, and aging services. Students from schools in Health Professional Shortage Areas (Petaluma High School and Sonoma Valley High School) will explore careers such as Physician, PA, Nurse, NP, PT, OT, Dietician, and Speech-Language Pathologist. The academy will also highlight mental health professionals, including licensed clinical social workers, counselors, and psychologists, as well as public health, healthcare administration and medical technology careers.
