The Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) will provide consultation on, and the repatriation of, Native American human remains and associated funerary items, and if present, unassociated funerary objects, objects of cultural patrimony, and sacred objects (collectively referred to as cultural items) housed at Sonoma State University in compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and California Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (CalNAGPRA). These archaeological collections were generated from excavations within Caltrans' right-of-way in support of Caltrans Capital, Maintenance, and other projects. They were housed, by Caltrans, at the University through project-by-project agreements.
