Palliative Care Oral Histories for the Center for Dying and Living

PI: Thomas Whitley
Department: Anthropological Studies Center
School or Division: School of Social Sciences
Sponsor: The Center for Dying and Living
Calendar Start & End Date: -
Funding Amount: $24,000

The Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) will be assisting the Center for Dying and Living (CDL) by recording oral histories about palliative care, collecting stories from patients and caregivers about serious illness, disability, and end of life care. These stories will become a part of the CDL's online library, made accessible to the public. These oral histories will serve to support the CDL's broader initiative to give support and guidance to people dealing with serious health issues while also beginning to bridge the gap in communication and understanding between patients and the medical community.
