A General Plan Background Report provides a detailed analysis of a community's current conditions and trends to inform the development of a General Plan, which is a long-term vision for the community's future. It examines factors like demographics, land use, housing, and environmental conditions. Background Reports serve as a foundation for decision-making and help guide the development of policies and strategies for future growth. In this project, we conducted similar research for the City of Petaluma. We utilized data sources including the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey and ESRI Business Analyst. We created tables, graphs, and maps highlighting key characteristics decision-makers in the city should be aware of when engaging in future planning.
