In this series of workshops, students are offered a rapid overview of the structure of plants in tutorials, then venture into the field to learn the basics of botanical drawing. The workshops are taught by professors in biology and art studio. Students closely observe, document, and draw the surrounding foliage of Copeland Creek. Students document in drawing the vegetation they find throughout the creek at the Fairfield-Osborn Preserve and as the creek winds its way through the main campus. This project benefits society by bringing attention to the life that is supported by Copeland Creek. It highlights the resources of the Fairfield-Osborn Preserve and the opportunities available for the community to explore the surrounding flora and fauna along the beautiful and easily accessed trails.
